Shin-Etsu AQOAT (Hypromellose Acetate Succinate*)
*Instead of Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose Acetate Succinate we will change its generic name to Hypromellose Acetate Succinate as from January, 2006.
"Shin-Etsu AQOAT" (Hypromellose Acetate Succinate)
is a new enteric coating material developed mainly for aqueous
coating by Shin-Etsu Chemical. "Shin-Etsu AQOAT" was approved
as a pharmaceutical excipient first in Japan in 1987, and
then in the United States and several European countries in
2001.
In an aqueous system, a suspension of the "Shin-Etsu AQOAT"
fine powder, triethyl citrate as a plasticizer and water is
applied for coating.
"Shin-Etsu AQOAT" has the unique character of a low glass
transition temperature, which can give a solid dispersion
for poorly soluble drugs.
